About
My name is Merle Grimm. I am an illustrator passionate about bringing stories to life through art and creating magical worlds that inspire and entertain. My creations, whether digital or rendered in watercolour, ink, or charcoal, are designed to spark imagination and wonder in young hearts.
When I’m not sketching or painting, you’ll find me immersed in a good book. I believe that art has a magical ability to bring tales to life, fuelling my love for stories.
As a third-culture kid, I spent over a decade of my childhood in Asia, primarily in Hong Kong, with several years in Beijing. My upbringing was enriched by both Western fairy tales, such as the Brothers Grimm and Chinese stories like the “Cowherd and Weaver Girl (牛郎织女)”. I’ve always had a book or a pencil in hand, writing and illustrating stories from a young age.
I spent several years studying biochemistry and molecular biology, and later architecture.
I currently reside near Hamburg, Germany, with my husband.
